Southwest Airlines has done a great job reaching out to the communities that they fly through. Denver did not used to be such a big hub for Southwest. In the past five years they have expanded from 13 daily nonstop flights to three locations to 159 daily nonstop flights to 51 locations. I cannot believe how big of a change the Denver airport has had recently. Southwest has put in a lot of efforts to be involved in the Denver community. This is not the first time they have done this in places where they fly through but Denver has outdone them all. In just the last two years Southwest Airlines has built the Southwest Porch, Southwest Rink at Skyline Park, and now the newest addition Southwest Court at Skyline Park.
All of these efforts are in large part a way to provide an incentive to people that are in the Mile High Club. It is an honor to be in the club and Southwest wants to reward them for their dedication to the airline. It has become easy for Southwest frequent flyers to find easy activities to do while visiting Denver. Southwest Airlines has a close connection to Denver through the Denver Nuggets, Red Rock Amphitheater, Denver’s Road Home and other common community activities in the city. Southwest makes it a priority to show their gratitude toward Denver and their close partnership with Downtown Denver. This is a great form of communication to the public in the Denver area and for Southwest Airlines in general. They create a positive environment and treat their dedicated customers with respect. I hope it continues like that in the future!

As a college student, I think that internships hold more value than any other type of job. We are not taught how to have a job. We are not taught exactly what we are going to do after college. These types of things are found through working in different jobs and getting experiences that can show one the things they like and do not like. Internships prove that point exactly.
If you do not test out the waters before jumping into a job, there is a high chance that you will not like the job. I do agree that being open minded for our first job is important. The Intern Queen gives students opportunities that they would otherwise not be able to find. Connections are key and if you are lucky enough to have one then utilizing it is crucial.
I once heard from someone that when it comes to keeping in touch with professionals, it is important to always be “pleasantly persistent.” This means that when you are contacting someone in a company and they do not respond, to just be pleasantly persistent. This avoids both parties thinking that the other has forgotten about them. I found that most executives and professionals have their emails flooded by the hour and it is important to bring your name up to the top of their email list.
Internships are sometimes a good indicator for a job that one would like to have in the future. In this case, that person should feel as though the hit the jackpot. They should definitely keep in touch as much as they can with the people that they worked with and hope for a job offer at the time of graduation.
Internqueen.com holds a boat load of information that gives opportunities to students in need of a little assistance finding that perfect internship for them. Thank you!

Disney is honoring Steve Jobs in their upcoming movie, “John Carter”. The movie is coming out next Friday and taking a big step to dedicating their film to Steve Jobs. He was a big part of the company over the past couple of decades and sat as a board member. Jobs has yet to be honored due to the lack of Disney and Pixar movies released since his passing. It is a subject that no one wants to approach because of the huge hole that both companies feel.
It is hard to honor someone that has done so much in his lifetime. He left this earth too early and is now being honored by the respectable movie conglomerates, Disney and Pixar. Both of these companies work very closely with one another and have a bond that is intertwined through people such as Steve Jobs. Jobs was a huge component to Disney but actually owned Pixar. Disney had to discuss the honoring of Jobs before having it be approved because Pixar has the closer connection to him because of his ownership of Pixar.
The death of anyone is tough and it is tough to actually face the fact that someone who left such a big mark here is now gone. Pixar has a couple of movies that are coming out in the next sixth months and his closest friends did not want too much time to pass without publicly honoring Jobs. He will be honored for the next many movies but “John Carter” is the first one.
Thank you Steve Jobs for all that you have done in your lifetime. It really is inspirational and your memory lives on.

The article, “CEO Communications: Five Phrases That Signal ‘BS'” shows a lot of insight to the tactics that CEO of companies should follow. I believe that it is very true to be as trustworthy to the public because without them, the company would most likely not survive. Survival is key in the corporate life. It is a natural instinct to not shop somewhere if you know that they epopel that work for that company are not trustworthy. It is only human nature. This article gives good insight into the ways that people are able to find faulty CEO’s. The article links to a website called the 10 company. This website gives aid to companies to transform their companies into an honorable space that ensures executives are taking the time to use their strategies to be accountable always.
I am interested to know the financial decrease in revenue if a CEO is found to be at fault. The communications crisis team has a short time period to make sure it is all solved in a proper way and if that time frame is missed, they are potentially in a lot of danger. I have learned throughout my public relations classes at the University of Oregon to always tell the truth and tell it fast to avoid any more issue.
I would hold a little more trust in someone if they told me the true story from the beginning rather than after the fact. I found that the line stating, “This deal is a win-win.” seems slimy and too confident to make such a rash statement before being completely positive about the result of the deal. To me it shows overconfidence and gives a sense of discomfort to the consumer.
CEO’s are the face of the company and have to make sure they are balancing confidence with reality. It is great to be able to tell the good news without people doubting you! No one wants a CEO who cries wolf!

The little blue box is infamous for its timeless jewelry. Tiffany & Co. has done an unseen job working its way to the top of the jewelry industry. It is definitely one of the most well known jewelers in the country. Everyone knows Tiffany’s and respects it. The jewelry is not ostentatious and instead is simple and beautiful. It is a gift that most girls dream of getting from a friend, parent, spouse or anyone special. Tiffany’s does a great job providing opportunities for other people in the fashion industry.
As the 2012 Academy Awards® approached, Tiffany & Co. changed their subdue ways and enlisted Rachel Zoe to design the windows at their flagship stores. These stores included New York City, Beverly Hills, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and Tokyo. The windows were to be themed Hollywood glamour from the 1930s and 1970s. Each one of the five decades were represented in separate windows through Tiffany jewels that shined light on the glamour from that time.
Tiffany & Co. did a great job communicating with the public about such an iconic event. Artists such as Andy Warhol have been involved in decorating windows at Tiffany’s in the past. They worked alongside an event that millions of people watch yearly. The Academy Awards are a prestigious event that are only held once a year and Tiffany’s did a great job holding a strong presence there. I think having a signature look through Hollywood over the decades is another way to acknowledge their respect for the Academy Awards.
They created a Rachel Zoe Twitter feed on the day of the Academy Awards for a direct line to the Tiffany Brand. This not only highlights Tiffany’s but also Rachel Zoe and the Academy Awards. It was a smart move by Tiffany’s all around!
